Design Your Dream Career
Jess’ transformation from unhappy and unfulfilled to a thriving creative career.
How can you shine bright if your work doesn't light you up?
You know the conversation I'm talking about. You sit down at Thanksgiving, and your aunt turns to you and says "What are you up to lately?" Your palms get sweaty, and you start to panic, thinking "What am I doing with my life?!"
The good news is, it's not too late to get a plan together for your career: one that you would be proud of and that would be an exciting story for you to share.
It's also not too late to pivot to something new! If you are not excited about your work and the trajectory that your career is taking you, you have the power to change it.
Six years ago I was in that same boat. I was going through some intense personal challenges and struggling to figure out what direction I wanted to go with my life and career. Now I am thriving in my dream career as a creative leader and mentor. I love helping creative professionals figure out what lights them up, and how to build a career or business that they are passionate about AND that provides for their needs.
Career Planning: Design Your Dream Career
The first step: figure out where you want to go. Take some time to get clear about what you truly want your career to look like, because if you don't care where you end up, then it's like the Cheshire cat says in Alice in Wonderland, "then it doesn't matter which way you go."
You need to choose a clear destination so that you can start taking confident steps in the direction of your dreams. Need help figuring out what this could look like? Start following people who inspire you and who are doing exactly what you want to be doing. Learn from them and use them as a template for what your future career could look like.
Develop Creativity, Courage, and Compassion
Building your career requires building character. Whatever challenges you are facing as you're moving forward with your career and creative calling in life, you will need to have a good amount of creativity, courage and compassion to successfully move through them.
The world needs what YOU have to offer. You have unique skills, talents, passions and strengths, and it is selfish of you to hide them away and not share them. It's time to SHINE BRIGHT!
