Sharing Is Caring
Share your creative gifts with the world!
How can you help others if they don’t even know you exist?
Our world is full of so much chatter and endless noise. It is easy to get lost in the frenzy, and stay buried and invisible. The biggest problem with our frenetic world is that it can make it harder to break through the noise to connect with the people who you could serve and help.
You have valuable skills, experiences, and unique ways that YOU could help people. The world needs you and your creative work.
“If I build it, they will come.”
I see this all the time with creatives: they build and make things that are AMAZING, but then they don’t do anything to let people know about it. They think “when my work is good enough, THEN people will somehow magically find out about it.”
That mindset selfishly puts all of the responsibility on others to somehow do the digging to find you and your work, instead of showing up and sharing what you have to offer so that the people who need it most can discover it.
Whether you are in a creative career, doing freelance work, or building your own business, taking the time to share your work with the world is vital not only to your success in that endeavor, but to the people around you who you are meant to serve.
Overcoming the Fear of Sharing
It can sometimes feel scary to share your work, especially if you’ve never done it before. “Will people like it? Is it good enough? Am I saying or sharing the right thing in my post?”
It is completely normal to feel nervous. The more you start to post your work and share, the more bold and confident you will become. And your posts don't need to be perfect, you just need to start showing up.
You’re not facing a crowd holding rotten tomatoes at the ready, or with pitchforks on the sidelines, ready to come after you if you make a wrong move. As long as you don’t attack anyone or share anything super crazy weird or blatantly hateful, the worst case scenario is usually that no one will respond, and you will stay as invisible as you already were before you started sharing.
Don’t give up! That invisible growth phase is so important. You are growing the roots and laying the foundation to build on in the future.
You are also learning valuable lessons that will help your work get better and better. The responses that you get will help you see what resonates with your audience, and better understand who and how your work can help.
Shine Bright
Don’t wait for applause for everything you share, and don't measure your success and progress on the reactions from those around you. It will take time to build momentum: for people to notice you, understand what you are doing, and over time eventually trust that what you have to offer is good and will help them. Keep sharing and shining!
